March 18th, 2013
Spring break is just around the corner! Have you given any thought to what you will pack for snacks on your road trip? It’s fairly easy to pack healthy and tasty options, to fuel your family. Here are a few ideas:
- Almonds: These are brain food! You can buy them in bulk, or in travel size packets if you wish. Packed with protein, they will keep kids satisfied between meals.
- Dried fruit: This is a great way to sneak some fruit into your kids’ diet. From cherries, to apples, to bananas, you can’t go wrong!
- Granola bars: These can be a great source of fiber, if you buy the right ones.
- Popcorn: Pop your own, and you will avoid most of the fat and corn syrup. Add fun flavors like grated cheese, cinnamon, ranch seasoning, etc. Voila..instant snack!
- Veggies: Raw, pre-washed and prepped vegetables are snacks you can always feel good about. Some road trip-friendly choices include cherry or grape tomatoes, snack-sized or baby carrots, broccoli florets, celery sticks and snap peas.
So, there you go. Head to the grocery and stock up on some good-for-you snacks. Safe travels!
