We try out three food apps
Clueless in the kitchen, or just want to hone your culinary skills? There’s an app for that! Below are three apps for iPhone or iPad to keep you on your toes:
How to Cook Everything: This one is great for those who don’t know where to start. Recipes are organized by ingredient, so you can create recipes based on the contents of your fridge. But that’s not all. Create grocery lists you can email and how-to illustrations. Perhaps the best part is the fact that each recipe step has a built in timer so there’s less chance you’ll forget how long your brown rice has been on the stove.
Fromage: Unsure about what makes a brie a brie, and a pecorino a pecorino? This app will come in handy then. With hundreds of cheeses cataloged by region, milk type and texture, plus a favorites section, you will be sure to impress at the next dinner party.
Harvest: This app will become your best friend as you browse the produce section of the supermarket. From asparagus to zucchini, it tells you what is in season and how to know if and when it’s ripe. Bonus: You can obtain pesticide level information for each piece of produce—useful to know when deciding whether or not to buy organic.
