Waiter on the Way Gets Smart(er)
Waiter on the Way purchased its second smart car recently. Here’s the scoop:
Does a car need a rear seat when the vast majority of vehicles carry just one person? Isn’t a hood a waste of space when the engine can be accommodated at the rear? Is a clutch pedal really necessary when an automated manual transmission is better suited to urban driving? Is size really a measure of safety when an innovative safety concept offers exceptional protection in a vehicle measuring just 8.84 ft. in length? All valid questions in an ever-evolving world that only smart can answer.

The Penske Automotive Group distributed smart cars in the U.S. until June 30, 2011. On July 1, 2011, smart became part of a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz USA. Mercedes-Benz USA has responsibility for Mercedes-Benz vehicles as well as Sprinter Vans in the U.S.
Most importantly, all smart fortwos come packed with standard safety features that are usually reserved for luxury vehicles. These include the protective “tridion safety cell,” developed especially for the smart fortwo to help ensure crash compatibility with larger passenger cars, electronic stability program (esp®), anti-lock braking system (abs), and eight airbags, just to name a few.
