Take in the sights, sounds and tastes of Roanoke
Roanoke may be a small town, but it doesn’t lack flavor-both literally and figuratively. Now in its 19th year, the Taste of Roanoke on August 18 features local restaurants, non-profit organizations and civic groups serving specialty food items outside on downtown Main Street.
Get ready for a neighborhood block style shindig, with families and attendees of all ages enjoying food, camaraderie and the sights and sounds of summer. Main Street is sure to be alive with action and fun for dinner.
The folks in Roanoke take their grilling seriously. Items served for the evening include: breaded tenderloin sandwiches, grilled tenderloin sandwiches and barbecued ribs, gumbo, Wagyu (Kobe) beef burgers and brats and gelato and ice cream. Don’t miss out on fruit smoothies, sloppy joes, root beer floats, apple dumplings, apple crisps and loads of baked goods and goodies. Prices range from $1.00-7.00 and there is no admission charge.
Bring your dancing shoes, too. Fort Wayne’s Urban Legend band, which plays old school soul, classic R&B, and classic rock from the 60s through today, will get you in the mood to groove!
The Taste of Roanoke runs from 5-8p m on Saturday, August 18. Proceeds from the event go to the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund. For more information, contact 260.672.1715.
