Munchie Emporium- A Fort Wayne Institution
From the moment I became a Fort Wayne resident, folks were telling me I had to try Munchie Emporium. It’s an institution in town. Purchased by Blaine Stuckey, Jeff Neels, and Todd Grantham in 1999, the restaurant serves up microbrews and signature dishes like Scooby Snacks and Politician Pizza at the corner of Broadway and Taylor.
As a partner restaurant, you can enjoy the unique menu items from the comfort of your own home. My favorites include Bavarian Pretzels, Scotch Eggs, Korean Bulgogi BBQ Plate, and the Cuban Sandwich. But don’t take my word for it. With a menu including over 100 items, there’s sure to be something to satisfy your cravings.
If burgers are your thing, Munchie has eight to choose from, including an Italian Hot Pepper Burger served with hot giardiniera pepper mix and Jack cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about those peppers. Prefer sandwiches or wraps? Munchie has those too. I especially like the Turkey Avocado Pita and the Catfish Po’ Boy. The menu offers an interesting assortment of pizza too, including Greek Pizza, made with spinach, black olives, artichoke hearts, feta cheese and plum tomatoes. ½ and ½ pizzas are available for 75 cents more. For those who enjoy something lighter, Munchie offers eleven different salads. I haven’t had one yet, but the Asparagus Salad sounds great- grilled asparagus and sautéed portabella mushrooms with diced tomato, feta cheese and walnuts.
The only problem I encounter when ordering from Munchie is what to choose- everything sounds so good. Next time, I am going to try the Jambalaya Fettuccine, described as Mardi Gras on a plate- hot and spicy shrimp and sausage.
