FREE Downtown Delivery extended until May 10, 2020!
UPDATE: FREE Delivery for this DTFW campaign has been extended until Sunday, May 10, 2020!
We have had a massive response to the FREE delivery to restaurants in the 99 blocks of the Downtown Improvement District. Please note that those restaurants include 816 Pint & Slice, Burger Bar Fort Wayne, Coney Island, Conner's, Copper Spoon, Dash-In, Don Hall's Gas House, Freshii, Hoppy Gnome, King Gyros, Nawa, Pembroke Bakery & Cafe, Powers Hamburgers, Proximo, Ruth's Chris Fort Wayne, and Tolon. We cannot confirm that this list will accurately reflect whether or not these restaurants will remain open during the state-wide shut down. If they are open, we will deliver from them. Thank you!
March 18, 2020 – The Fort Wayne Downtown Improvement District, in partnership with Waiter on the Way, is pleased to announce that beginning Thursday, March 19th deliveries through Waiter on the Way will be free to local patrons who order from restaurants that Waiter on the Way delivers from within the 99 blocks of the Downtown Improvement District for the next 30 days. Please use code “DTFW” during online checkout or mention it during a phone order placement.
“I am very excited to partner with the Downtown Improvement District to be able to extend free delivery to all of our customers from all of our Downtown restaurants. In this time of uncertainty, we have a responsibility to do as much as we can to help one another in any way possible. When we encounter uncertain times, we need to do as much as we can to support the community. This, to me, is just the community taking care of the community. As a team, we are working tirelessly to get food delivered as quickly and efficiently as possible.” – Derek Berkes of Waiter on the Way.
Waiter on the Way has also added a function to their checkout system that allows customers the ability to tip both the restaurant staff and the delivery driver, allowing the restaurant to better support its staff.
In response to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, locally owned Downtown restaurants, such as Tolon have joined forces with Waiter on the Way to provide delivery service for those who wish to support their businesses. “During this time of restricted dining options in Fort Wayne, Tolon has chosen to partner with Waiter on the Way because they believe in our City and those who make our City the place it is. It’s important to us to support other local businesses because we are family. Our community. Our partners. Derek and the team at Waiter on the Way have been helpful to adding our service to their list of restaurants on such short notice. With their help, we can ease the difficulty for our guests, our Tolon family, to have access to the local products they have come to know and love. We will be forever grateful for Waiter on the Way during this time.” – Nicky and Matthew Nolot of Tolon.
Here at the Downtown Improvement District, we know that limitations placed upon local businesses for the safety of our shared community have been difficult to weather and are working to help in any way that we can. We are hopeful that this collaboration encourages more patronage of our Downtown dining establishments and trust that, by pulling together as friends and neighbors, we as a community will persevere and come out stronger on the other side.
DID wishes to extend a special thank you to With a PH Digital Marketing & Development for assistance with this collaboration.
