Black Dog Pub is a southwest Fort Wayne favorite. Located at Covington Plaza, they offer a warm atmosphere, delicious food, and a friendly staff. Open seven days a week, they have some of the best burgers, baskets, and appetizers in town.

It was my first time stopping by after hearing a number of friends talk about it. I wanted to try something that best represented the establishment and the Black Dog Pub burger was the obvious choice. This burger isn’t something you are going to find at a drive through.

With half a pound of fresh, handmade burger, it is top with all kinds of goodies. Bacon, mushrooms, swiss cheese, grilled onion, and an additional layer of American cheese manage to make this a burger worth not only trying but finishing with a side of fries. Topped with their toasted onion roll bun, it won’t fall apart in your hand which seems to happen more times than necessary when I sample burgers for the first time.

Black Dog Pub has a way more extensive menu than I had expected. With burgers, appetizers, baskets, entrees, pizzas, sandwiches, sausage rolls, calzones, soups salads, subs, wraps, and desserts there is plenty of food to choose from. This is solid, homemade, American food at its best.
