Gary Friedrich, 26, is a Fort Wayne native and has been working at Waiter on the Way for the last 4 years. If you have called in an order for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there is a good chance that you've spoken. He started as a driver and now works in the main office where he is a shift manager for the call center. He talks to 30 to 50 different people each day.
"I love working here. I was in school but then started making good money driving and had the opportunity to move into the office. It feels like a family here, and everyone is always willing to help and get things done". He tells me that the work environment is "very adaptable". He always enjoys the occasional random phone call, too. "You'd be surprised how many people call from California thinking that we can deliver food to them. We only deliver to northeast Indiana but they find us online and try to place an order. I just got a phone call from Louisiana an hour ago asking for a delivery. It's pretty funny."
Gary is in touch with 15 to 20 drivers every day between morning and night. In the last couple of years, he has seen a big switch from telephone orders to online orders. He loves that more people are using the website and sees it continuing to grow each month. He also loves Downtown Fort Wayne. "Being downtown gives us more exposure. It's easy to walk around or take a break and enjoy it. I love watching the new construction happening."
If you call and Gary picks up, make sure to say, "hello". He loves hearing from you and has been a huge asset to the Waiter on the Way family. We hope we are lucky to have him for another 4 years!
