ABOUT

Back to Earth Vermicastings is a new local business established in 2019 with the goal of making Fort Wayne a more eco-friendly place to live. We offer a sustainable waste management service to residents and businesses. We turn the collected waste into a value-added product called worm castings through a natural process coined vermicomposting. Worm castings are one of nature’s finest, organic, plant health boosters. Worm castings support flowers with stronger blooms, more drought-resistant lawns, and higher yielding vegetables. Our worm castings are distributed back to subscribers of the service and also available for purchase. Give our service and product a try and be on your way to living a greener, more eco-friendly life.

Worm Castings

Worm castings have an incredibly high, water holding capacity making it great for hanging baskets. Not only will your plants love it, but worm castings allow you to go longer between watering. Our 1-quart bags are perfect for small to medium sized transplants, 1-gallon pots and hanging baskets.

Transplant shock can leave your plants more vulnerable to pest and disease. Worm castings minimize the effects of transplant shock, helping them more effectively fight off potential pest and disease. Our 1-gallon bags are great for multiple small to medium sized transplants, 3-gallon pots and hanging baskets.

Studies have shown that worm castings are packed with beneficial soil microbes, promoting strong root growth. This allows plants to collect nutrients efficiently from the soil profile. Our 0.5 cubic foot bags are great for large planter boxes, medium to large tree and scrub transplants, and incorporation into gardens.
