Agaves Mexican Grill is known for their north location off of Washington Center Road. Did you know they also have a restaurant on the northeast side of Fort Wayne on Maysville Road? The Maysville Road location is a soft, comfortable environment with a courteous staff and brick interior. But what got me in the door? The food.

I started off with their Guacamole Fresco. Made up of fresh tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, jalapenos and a hint of lime juice, this is NOT your grocery store guacamole. This is the real deal.

Let me back up. What I really started off with was their endless supply of chips and salsa. This salsa wasn’t spicy nor was it bland and I ate until it was empty. Then they refilled it. I ate until it was empty again. They refilled it again. This went on all afternoon. They also have endless refills for their soft drinks. I took them up on that, too.

Next, I tried the Fajita Taco Salad and the Pollos served with steak (something I’ve never had before). It was delicious and the perfect mix of crisp/crunch and that salty meat and layered, fresh tomato. Here is the trick: order the guacamole ahead of time and then add in a little guac and salsa to each bite of your entree. It makes for the perfect combo.

I tried to save room for dessert but the ten orders of chips and salsa did me in. I might have to add this to one of my top ten favorite places to dine in Fort Wayne. As you know, if you can’t get out of the house, then you have to place an order with Waiter on the Way via their online menu. They can bring the Fajita Taco Salad, chips, Gauacamole Fresco, AND dessert right to your front door. 

PS. Did I mention the upside down Corona in my Margarita? This is a must do next time you visit.
